16. Flow Visualization

Flow visualization will give you holistic insight over the traffic communication across your complete network. By analyzing flow data, a picture of network traffic flow and volume can be built.

Motadata extracts a lot of information about the bandwidth utilization by monitoring the flow. As a network administrator, you can visualize the behavior pattern of the network bandwidth usage using the flow visualization. Flow visualization answers a lot of bandwidth related questions like:

  • Which host consumes the bandwidth?

  • What is the bandwidth share of various protocols?

  • Which user consumes the most bandwidth?

If your business depends on inward web traffic, it is critical to keep watching the bandwidth utilization for ‘maximum business usage’ and ‘fair personnel usage’. In worst scenarios, the bandwidth scarcity can hamper your business and keep your customers away. Hence, both inbound and outbound bandwidth utilization analysis is necessary. You will be able to visualize the following type of flow technologies using Motadata’s flow visualization:

  • Net flow v5

  • Net flow v9

  • sFlow

Prerequisites

  • License: The flow volume is included in the total data volume of your master license.

  • Plugins Required: sFlow, NetFlow Version 5, NetFlow Version 9

  • Flow engine should be turned ON from backend.

Flow Visualization Menu

Motadata monitors traffic flow over interfaces on your network devices. Motadata’s flow visualization lets you have a look at network traffic along with the type of traffic. The Flow Visualization menu contains:

  • Dashboard: See the flow visualization statistics in different widgets through graphs and charts.

  • Application View: See the volume of traffic sent and received by network from applications stand point.

  • Top N View: See the top applications, traffic volume and traffic type in the network.
